This photograph, Betrayal, was the first photo I had taken in a long time. It had been some months, maybe even a year, since I had picked up a professional camera (not counting the photos I took from my phone), and the camera I was using was also new to me. Because of this, I wasn’t sure of my photography skills, and how much I would remember from the past. When I arrived at the house of a friend I was going to photograph, I was already nervous to take a picture of a real, moving person. So, I started with her dog. Brutus, the dog, was very still and a great being to start shooting. By doing that, I gained more confidence and started to shoot Carol, my friend.
That was the third time I’ve ever met Brutus, so he doesn’t really know me. But, he’s really friendly and lovable, if not humongous and giddy.
I took Betrayal in my friend’s house, on a very snowy day. I took many photos, and most of those were too blurry to understand. But I eventually got the hang of it. Eventually... I tried to get many angles of the person or animal, so show some variety.
One challenge was my hands shaking, making the photos blurry, but I held my breath while shooting, and that helped a lot. Another issue I had was editing after shooting. I had trouble figuring out Photoshop, but I got the hang of it, and started to enjoy it.
